Morning Maniacs got its start from an idea coming home from California. After visiting a classic car group called Donut Derelicks, Wendy Meagher thought it would be a great idea to see if that type of car group she saw in Huntington Beach California could take off in Texas.
We started meeting at Cafe Brazil in McKinney, with only four original members. It was hard getting the idea off and running. about Morning Maniacs. At Cafe Brazil we were lucky to have 9 people show up for breakfast.
Searching for another location took several months, and then one day there was a banner up at La Madeleine's in McKinney letting the public know that it would be serving breakfast. It turned out to be a perfect location, in the same shopping center as Belk. and other stores in McKinney.
The Dallas Morning News ran a nice article about Morning Maniacs and our group took off from there. We now have about 145 members and it keeps growing. We give the Dallas Morning News a lot of credit for giving us a "kick start".
